Challenge
Marine Science and Technology Centre is a department at the University of Klaipeda specializing in research facilities, resources and services for maritime research and technological development. In order for the University of Klaipeda to expand and broaden their scientific scope, a new vessel was designed and constructed. Termomontažas was glad to assist in this new and exciting academic challenge.
Solution
Two stationary laboratories were built for geological, biological and physical-chemistry research purposes. Key figures: the length of the vessel was 38.7 meters, width – 12.0 meters, hull depth – 4.5 meters and with a draught of 2.8 meters. Termomontazas provided insulation, interior outfitting, installation of deck and ventilation, manufacturing and installation of furniture.
Result
The ship 'Mintis' was hailed as a great success and a huge step forward in innovation and research in the marine industry carrying out many functions and enabling students to monitor the marine environment from water pollution to buried weapons.
